Urska Zigart suffers fractured jaw in heavy Tour de Suisse Women crash
AG Insurance Soudal have confirmed that Urška Žigart sustained a fractured jaw in a heavy crash during the closing kilometre of stage 2 of the Tour de Suisse Women. No other injuries were detected during hospital examinations.

Žigart came down shortly before the one kilometre banner as a chasing group entered Locarno. The Slovenian was riding near the front of the group when she lost control after hitting a traffic-calming feature in the road, bringing several other riders down with her.
The 29 year-old partner of Tadej Pogačar received immediate treatment from the race medical team before being transferred to hospital for further assessment. Scans subsequently confirmed a fracture to her jaw.
AG Insurance Soudal said its medical staff are now considering the next steps in her treatment and recovery. The team added that no additional injuries were found during the examinations.
“Our primary focus is on her health and well being,” the team said in a medical update, while thanking the race doctors, hospital staff and those who had sent messages of support.
Sara Casasola, Ginia Caluori and Maya Kingma were also involved in the incident. Casasola reportedly required stitches, while Caluori and Kingma escaped with abrasions.
It is Žigart’s second serious crash in a short period. Shortly before the Tour de Suisse Women, she spoke to CyclingPro.net about the fall she suffered during the final stage of the Giro d’Italia Women.
“It was a frightening experience,” Žigart said. “I am still a little scared after what happened.”
