Video: Close call for Beloki after contact with Lidl team car in Itzulia as DS excluded for final stage
An unusual incident disrupted the stage at the Itzulia Basque Country on Friday, when Markel Beloki was clipped by a team car from Lidl-Trek during a climb. Lidl-Trek DS, Kim Andersen has since been excluded from stage 6.

The Spaniard was riding in the front group with around 45 kilometers remaining when the vehicle made contact with his leg. The driver reacted quickly after the contact, preventing a crash.
Beloki expressed his frustration immediately after the incident but was able to continue without any visible injury. In the end, the son of former rider Joseba Beloki finished 23rd, more than nine minutes down on the stage winner.
In the jury report that followed the stage finish, Lidl-Trek DS Kim Andersen was fined 1000 CHF, received a yellow card and was excluded from the sixth and final stage on Saturday, for a breach of vehicle movement regulations.
As a result, Lidl-Trek will also have one less car for the final stage in the Basque Country as there is no team car replacement.
