Just hours before the 2026 Paris-Roubaix, an unexpected voice added to the hype. LeBron James shared a message backing Mathieu van der Poel ahead of his clash with Tadej Pogacar.

The NBA star, nicknamed 'The King', praised Van der Poel’s mentality and resilience, calling the race a true test of character. Known as the “Hell of the North,” Paris-Roubaix remains one of cycling’s toughest one day events, with the defending champion once again among the favourites.

The message, however, also carries a commercial angle, as James is an investor in Canyon, the bike brand used by Van der Poel.
