Video: Matteo Jorgenson crashes out of Amstel Gold Race
Matteo Jorgenson crashed out of the Amstel Gold Race with 41 kilometres to go. The American went down in a corner while trying to avoid Kévin Vauquelin, who had crashed just ahead of him just as the duo were starting to go clear as part of a selective group.

It is a cruel setback for Matteo Jorgenson, who this year chose to skip the cobbled Classics for the first time since 2024 and instead shift his focus to the Ardennes.
“My spring has gone perfectly so far and I feel good,” Jorgenson said ahead of the Amstel Gold Race. “Right now I’m exactly where I want to be. My goal was to start the Ardennes in good shape and good health, and I’ve achieved that.”
Given Jorgenson’s condition immediately after the crash, conscious but clearly shaken and left on the ground, it remains to be seen what impact this will have on the rest of his spring campaign.
