Video: Seixas keeps cool after late scare on way to second Itzulia stage win

Paul Seixas (Decathlon CMA CGM) underlined his growing authority at the Itzulia Basque Country with a second consecutive stage victory, but not without a moment of concern in the closing kilometres.

The 19-year-old Frenchman had already distanced his rivals on the climb to San Miguel de Aralar and was riding alone towards the finish in Cuevas de Mendukilo when the incident occurred. With just over three kilometres remaining, Seixas suddenly encountered a chaotic scene on the road ahead.

A spectator had been struck by one of the race motorbikes and was lying in the middle of the road, forcing vehicles to come to a halt. For a brief moment, Seixas was left searching for a way through.

Despite the unexpected obstacle, he remained composed, carefully navigating past the stationary traffic before continuing his effort towards the finish.
