Video: Taeen loses yellow on Tourmalet, then crashes hard on descent and breaks rib
Torstein Træen’s time in the yellow jersey came to a painful end on the Col du Tourmalet. The Uno-X Mobility rider crashed hard on the descent after losing so much time on the climb that his lead had already slipped away, with his advantage over Tadej Pogačar disappearing rapidly under the pressure of UAE Team Emirates-XRG.

The 30-year-old Norwegian was dropped early on the Tourmalet and reached the summit almost nine minutes behind, which meant he had virtually lost the yellow jersey to Tadej Pogačar. The Slovenian had launched a devastating attack and also set a new climbing record on the famous Pyrenean climb.
As if losing yellow was not enough, Træen then crashed hard on the descent after making contact with the rear wheel of teammate
Anders Halland Johannessen.
The incident looked worrying at first, but after undergoing the concussion protocol, Træen was able to get back on his bike and continue. At the finish, however, the damage was assessed. According to the jury report, Træen had broken a rib and sustained injuries to his right shoulder and elbow.
