How it will unfold
The race starts to come alive once the riders hit the Eyserweg and Vrakelberg. That is where positioning becomes crucial and the peloton begins to stretch. By the first passage of the Cauberg, the tension will be already visible, with teams fighting to control the race before the circuits begin.
From the Loorberg onwards, it turns into a war of attrition. The climbs come in rapid succession and there is barely any time to recover. This is typically where the stronger teams start isolating rivals and setting up moves.
The decisive phase begins around the Keutenberg. It is steep, irregular and perfectly placed to launch attacks. By the second passage of the finish line, the race is fully on.
Then comes the finale. Geulhemmerberg and Bemelerberg often see late moves, but more often than not, it all comes down to the final Cauberg. With just 1.7 kilometers to go, this is where the winning move is made or at least where the race is decided before the run in to Berg en Terblijt.
