Biography of pro cyclist Alexis Renard
Alexis Renard is a Breton one-day specialist who thrives on hard, attritional racing. He combines a punchy finish with the durability to survive cobbles and short, sharp climbs, making him a useful card for Cofidis across the Classics calendar.
While the elite victory has so far eluded him, Renard has repeatedly placed himself in the mix at major one-day races, marking him as a rider on the cusp of a breakthrough win.
Early life and rise
Renard was born in Saint-Brieuc, in Brittany, a region with a deep cycling culture and a tradition of producing hard, all-weather racers. He came through the French amateur ranks before turning professional with Cofidis, the team with which he has spent his WorldTour career.
Consistency in the Classics
Renard's results profile is built on near-misses and strong placings in one-day racing. In 2025 he finished second at both the Copenhagen Sprint and the Brussels Cycling Classic, and took seventh at the Classic Brugge-De Panne, underlining his ability to be there at the finish of fast, attritional Classics. In 2026 he again showed his cobbled-Classics pedigree with second place at the Breton one-day race Tro-Bro Léon, along with stage podiums at the Tour de Hongrie. Earlier results, including a runner-up overall at the Cholet Agglo Tour and a top-five at Paris-Tours in 2024, point to a rider steadily building his standing.
Rider profile: strengths, style, and characteristics
Renard is a puncheur and Classics man: quick enough to contest reduced sprints, durable enough to handle cobbles and rolling terrain, and tactically aware in the chaos of one-day racing. He is best suited to the semi-Classics and hard-edged sprints rather than high mountains or long stage races.
Personal life
A proud Breton, Renard is rooted in one of France's strongest cycling regions. He is regarded as a hard-working, reliable professional within the Cofidis setup.
