Thomas Silva

XDS Astana Team

Guillermo Thomas Silva, born 30 December 2001 in Maldonado, is a Uruguayan road racing cyclist for the XDS Astana Team and a genuine history-maker for his country. In 2026 he became the first Uruguayan ever to ride the Giro d'Italia, then the first South American from Uruguay to win a Grand Tour stage and wear a Grand Tour leader's jersey, taking stage two and the Maglia Rosa on a dramatic day in Veliko Tarnovo. A versatile, attacking rider who reached the WorldTour just a few years after racing as an amateur, Silva has become a trailblazer for Uruguayan cycling.
