Route
The 2026 Tour of Slovenia opens with two stages likely to favour the sprinters, although short climbs near the finishes in Rogaška Slatina and Ormož could make both finales more selective.
The race becomes tougher on stage 3, with Planina na Pohorju and Celjska Koča shaping the 133.5-kilometre route from Maribor to Celje.
Stage 4 is the queen stage, featuring more than 3,700 metres of climbing. The decisive test is the 12.7-kilometre Prelaz Vršič, averaging 7.7%, before a 15-kilometre descent to Kranjska Gora.
The final stage to Novo mesto includes five classified climbs and a steep 1.6-kilometre ascent at 9.9% inside the final nine kilometres, leaving room for one last shake-up of the general classification.

Favourites
Florian Lipowitz arrives as the clear favourite after finishing third at the 2025 Tour de France. The Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe rider is using Slovenia as part of his build-up to July and should be well suited to the decisive fourth stage.
He will be supported by Giulio Pellizzari, who could become the team’s alternative leader if Lipowitz runs into trouble. Other general classification contenders include Bryon Munton, Jakob Omrzel and Kamiel Bonneu.
The sprint stages should feature riders such as Laurence Pithie, Enrico Zanoncello and Ben Oliver.
