UCI points 2026: UAE pull clear as Pogacar and Vingegaard would be 5th and 7th if they were a team

With the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Tour de Suisse behind us, it is time to take a closer look at the 2026 UCI ranking ahead of the Tour de France. The two key Tour de France build-up races have reshaped the team standings.

UCI points after the Tour de Suisse

The Tour de Suisse was dominated by UAE Team Emirates-XRG, with Tadej Pogačar taking three stage wins and the overall, his teammate Jhonatan Narváez adding a fourth UAE stage on stage 3 to Bad Ragaz

EF Education-EasyPost picked up significant points through Richard Carapaz's second overall, with Lidl-Trek scoring through Mathias Vacek's third on GC.

The general classification offered the largest share of the UCI points available, but UAE’s attacking approach significantly increased its haul. Pogačar’s 69 kilometre solo victory on stage 1 and his decisive attack in Villars-sur-Ollon on stage 5 brought further stage points and bonus seconds.

Visma | Lease a Bike’s limited return was one of the more notable outcomes of the week. With Jonas Vingegaard not taking part and the team unable to turn its breakaway appearances into victories, the squad left the race with relatively few points.

UCI points after the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes followed a similar pattern. UAE Team Emirates-XRG topped the points table thanks to Isaac del Toro's overall victory and his back-to-back stage wins on the Grand Colombier and the Plateau de Solaison.

Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe scored heavily through Luke Tuckwell's 2nd overall and his time in the yellow jersey, with Lidl-Trek picking up significant points through Juan Ayuso's third place overall and Quinn Simmons' stage 4 victory.

Visma | Lease a Bike scored well through Matteo Jorgenson's fourth overall and Wout van Aert's stage win, but Decathlon CMA CGM came away with less than they had hoped after Paul Seixas's stage 7 crash and stage 8 abandonment.

UCI points so far in 2026

Looking at the UCI team ranking for the season so far, a familiar picture emerges. UAE Team Emirates-XRG lead the standings with 16,943 points, with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe and Visma | Lease a Bike among their closest challengers.

UAE’s position at the top is hardly surprising given the depth of the team and its success throughout the season. However, as Ned Boulting pointed out on the For the Love of Cycling podcast, the individual totals of Pogačar and Vingegaard offer an even more striking illustration of their dominance so far this season.

Pogačar leads the individual UCI ranking with 10,865 points. Were the Slovenian to be counted as a team on his own, that total would place him fifth in the team ranking.

Vingegaard sits second in the individual standings with 8,625 points. His total would be enough for seventh place among the teams, despite both riders effectively competing against squads with dozens of potential points scorers.

Pogačar has built his total during another prolific campaign, winning Milan-San Remo, the Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Tour de Romandie and the Tour de Suisse.

Vingegaard has also enjoyed an exceptional season, claiming overall victories at Paris-Nice, the Volta a Catalunya and the Giro d’Italia.

The gap between the two riders stands at 2,240 points. Their totals underline how much the two leading Tour de France contenders have already accumulated before the biggest race of the season.

Further down the table, one of the most striking features of the standings is Team Picnic PostNL’s continued struggle. The Dutch WorldTour team sits last among the top division squads and only 28th in the overall ranking, having collected 1,713 points.
