2026 Tour Down Under - Prologue start times
The Tour Down Under gets under way with a prologue time trial in Adelaide on Tuesday, with Australian time trial champion Jay Vine set to the be last man down the start ramp.
The Tour Down Under is the first race of the 2026 UCI WorldTour and the action gets under way with a prologue time trial in Adelaide on Tuesday.
Michael Gogl (Alpecin-Premier Tech) is the first man down the start ramp at 18.00 local time (8.30 CET), while Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) will be the last starter at 20.19 Adelaide time.
Fresh from victory in the time trial at the Australian Championships, Vine will be highly fancied to take the first ochre jersey of the 2026 Tour Down Under, but the flat course and the short, 3.6km distance opens the stage to a range of contenders.
Due to the logistical complications involved in bringing equipment to Australia, riders will tackle the course on road bikes rather than their time trial machines.
Every second counts at the Tour Down Under and the men with designs on final overall victory will know the importance of getting off to a fast start here.
Start times to watch include Michal Kwiatokwski (18.30), Adam Yates (18.59), Matteo Sobrero (19.11), defending champion Jhonatan Narváez (19.39) and Luke Plapp (20.14).
The Tour Down Under last started with a prologue in 2023, when Alberto Bettiol won the 5.5km test. The Italian is not present this year.
