Aranburu takes Bretagne Classic with late move as favourite Magnier crashes out of race
Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) claimed victory at the Bretagne Classic after attacking from a select front group in the final 1.5 kilometres and holding off his rivals all the way to the finish in Plouay.

The race had already lost one of its main favourites when Paul Magnier was involved in a heavy crash around 50 kilometres from the finish. The Soudal Quick-Step rider initially got back on his bike, but was unable to continue and later left the race by ambulance.
The hilly finale produced a series of attacks as several teams tried to prevent the race from coming back together for the faster finishers.
A strong group eventually emerged at the front, featuring Alex Aranburu (Cofidis), Alexander Kamp (Uno-X Mobility), Alessandro Borgo (Bahrain Victorious), Emil Herzog (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), Jenno Berckmoes (Lotto-Intermarché), Paul Lapeira (Decathlon CMA CGM), Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ United), Rick Pluimers (Tudor), Alexandre Delettre (TotalEnergies), Andrea Vendrame (Jayco AlUla), Dylan Teuns (Cofidis), Benoît Cosnefroy (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Lewis Askey (NSN).
Behind them, Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Premier-Tech) and the remaining peloton struggled to close the gap as the race entered its final kilometres.
The decisive moment came with around 1.5 kilometres remaining. As the leaders briefly looked at each other, Aranburu accelerated away and quickly created a small advantage. Kamp attempted to chase him down, but the Spaniard had enough of a gap to stay clear.
Aranburu crossed the line alone to secure one of the biggest victories of his career and another strong result in what has been an impressive 2026 season.
Kamp finished second, with Borgo taking third place.
