Ayuso crashes hard as Seixas is forced into him in chaotic Québec sprint
Juan Ayuso crashed heavily in the final metres of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec after being caught in a sudden movement across the road during the sprint for the minor placings.

The Lidl-Trek rider was part of a chasing group behind race winner Remco Evenepoel and teammate Giulio Ciccone when Paul Seixas moved sharply to his left and made contact with Ayuso.
Footage of the incident suggests Seixas may himself have been reacting to movement from a rider on his right, although it is not clear from the available images exactly what triggered the chain reaction.
Ayuso was sent hard onto the tarmac and remained on the ground for several moments. Seixas stayed upright and crossed the line shaking his head.
The crash soured an otherwise strong afternoon for Lidl-Trek, with Ciccone finishing second behind Evenepoel and Quinn Simmons also featuring prominently in the finale.
The timing is particularly concerning for Ayuso, with the World Championships in Montreal just two weeks away. He is set to spearhead Spain’s road race team alongside Enric Mas, who currently leads the Vuelta a España.
There was no immediate update on the extent of Ayuso’s injuries after the finish.
