In-form Lund Andresen outsprints big guns on Tirreno-Adriatico stage 3
The in-form Dane picked up his milestone 10th career victory on the longest stage of the Italian stage race in Magliano de' Marsi.

Tobias Lund Andresen (Decathlon CMA CGM) continued his fine start to 2026, beating some of the world’s best sprinters on stage 3 of Tirreno-Adriatico.
Lund-Andresen was placed into the prime position by his teammates under the flamme rouge, and the in-form Dane made the most of it, powering to victory against some of the world's best sprinters.
On the longest stage of the race at 221km, which was blighted by inclement weather conditions, Lund Andresen was the quickest in the finish, beating Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Intermarché) in 2nd, and Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Premier Tech) in 3rd.
This marks Lund Andresen’s third victory of 2026 after he won a stage at the Santos Tour Down Under, as well as the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. The 23-year-old also enjoyed a strong opening weekend finishing 6th at Omloop Nieuwsblad, and 7th at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.
Beginning in Cortona, stage 3 was the longest in this year’s edition of Tirreno-Adriatico, and inclement weather conditions awaited the riders as rain jackets swarmed the peloton for the majority of the stage.
The race was briefly neutralised with 90km remaining due to a train crossing, but other than that, there wasn’t much action as the riders made their way towards Magliano de' Marsi
The ever-combative Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) launched an attack with 25km remaining, sparking the race into life, and the Norwegian was joined by Ethan Hayter and Liam Slock. However, the trio were quickly hunted down and caught with 20km remaining.
The pace ramped up from this point on, as the riders fought for position ahead of the impending sprint finish.
With 2km to go, Lidl-Trek and Soudal Quick-Step were both positioned at the front on the left-hand side of the road. Meanwhile, Jasper Philipsen was much further back. Decathlon CMA CGM led the race into the final bend, before Milan launched a seated sprint. However, Lund Andresen had more power in reserve and was able to charge to a somewhat comfortable victory as Arnaud De Lie and Jasper Philipsen filled the stage podium.
