Video: Instant chaos at Milan-Sanremo as breakaway goes the wrong way
A moment of confusion in the early stages of the opening Monument of the season as the breakaway found themselves heading off course.

Shortly after the flag drop, the fight for the breakaway began, and a group started to move clear of the peloton.
However, in the opening kilometres, the breakaway headed the wrong way on a roundabout. By taking the first exit at the roundabout, the breakaway riders quickly found themselves caught and passed by the peloton, who took the correct second exit.
A group has since formed featuring nine riders, including Martin Marcellusi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber), Manuele Tarozzi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber), Lorenzo Milesi (Movistar), Manilo Moro (Movistar), Andrea Peron (Team Novo Nordisk), David Lozano (Team Novo Nordisk), Alexy Faure Prost (Picnic PostNL), Dario Igor Belletta (Polti Visit Malta) and Mirco Maestri (Polti Visit Malta).
Recently at Strade Bianche Women, something similar happened when a chase group featuring several favourites followed a motorbike and went off course.
