Lidl steps up cycling investment with major La Vuelta and La Vuelta Femenina partnership from 2027
The German supermarket retailer will take on several main partnership roles across five races, including sponsorship of the red jersey at La Vuelta and La Vuelta Femenina.

Lidl has continued to strengthen its position in the world of cycling, securing a multi-year partnership covering five Spanish races from 2027, including La Vuelta and La Vuelta Femenina.
The agreement will see the German supermarket retailer become the official fresh food partner of La Vuelta, La Vuelta Femenina, Volta a Catalunya, Itzulia Basque Country and Clásica San Sebastián.
Additionally, Lidl will also become the main partner of La Vuelta, presenting partner and main partner of the La Vuelta Femenina, and partner of the general classification leader’s red jersey in both races.
“We are happy to begin this new partnership with Lidl, a company with a solid and proven track record of commitment to cycling,” Javier Guillén, General Director of the La Vuelta, said.
We are also particularly pleased that this agreement will further strengthen Lidl’s support for La Vuelta Femenina and women’s cycling,” he added.
Lidl will also become the main partner for the Volta a Catalunya, Itzulia Basque Country and Clásica San Sebastián, respectively.
“We are delighted to welcome Lidl as an Official Partner of La Volta a Catalunya from 2027,” Ruben Peris, Director of Volta a Catalunya said.
“Lidl is a brand that is part of people’s everyday lives, and its commitment to La Volta is a great addition to our partner family.
Lidl steps up cycling investment
The new partnership marks another milestone for Lidl’s involvement in the world of cycling, which has accelerated since the German retailer became a title sponsor of Lidl-Trek in 2023.
In October 2025, Lidl completed its acquisition of a majority stake in the Lidl-Trek organisation, with Trek retaining a significant minority stake, giving the retailer a more direct role in the future ambitions of the team.
At the end of October 2026, Lidl-Trek announced a 10-rider women’s development team for 2027, Lidl-Trek Future Racing Women, featuring riders from eight nations, expanding their development pathways alongside the men’s team.
Both the formation of a women's development team and the new partnership with five Spanish races reaffirm Lidl’s commitment to the sport for both now and the future.
“Cycling is part of everyday life and brings together many of the things Lidl stands for: conscious nutrition, an active lifestyle and genuine team spirit,” Jens Thiemer, Chief Customer Officer Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG said.
“That's why our commitment deliberately goes beyond traditional brand visibility.”
