Milan completes sprint hat-trick on Tour de Pologne stage 3
Another sprint finish in Poland saw a familiar outcome as Jonathan Milan outkicked his opponents for a third stage win to maintain his 100% record in the 2026 edition.

Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) sprinted to victory on stage 3 of the Tour de Pologne in Zielona Góra, completing a hat-trick of victories, ahead of Noah Hobbs (EF Education-EasyPost) and Alessandro Romele (XDS Astana).
A strong six-man breakaway pushed the peloton deep, holding an advantage until 4km remaining.
The battle for position in the closing kilometres was frantic, with Decathlon and NSN well positioned under the flamme rouge, with Milan also primed and ready.
Ultimately, for the third consecutive day, the stage would be decided in a bunch sprint, and the outcome was the same as the Italian champion roared his way to victory after being well positioned and timing his effort to perfection.
Milan’s third consecutive stage win in Poland marks his 36th professional victory on the road and 11th of 2026.
How it unfolded
The first move of the day came from Radosław Frątczak (Poland), and he would be shortly joined by fan-favourite Taco van der Hoorn (Lotto-Intermarché).
However, the peloton wasn’t willing to settle and eventually Pinarello-Q36.5 duo Sjoerd Bax and Fabio Christen went clear in pursuit of the front duo, before halting their efforts due to the relentless chase behind.
The bunch was then stretched out by the wind, and the fight for position saw the front duo reeled in.
The next significant move came from Enzo Paleni (Groupama-FDJ United), who was joined by Dries De Bondt (Jayco AlUla) and Jakub Kaczmarek (Poland).
An intriguing chase group featuring Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek), Van der Hoorn and Jasper De Buyst (Lotto-Intermarché) formed and would bridge to the head of the race.
The break would split when Paleni, De Bondt and Van der Hoorn pushed on, as Milan, De Buyst and Kaczmarek were regathered by the peloton.
The breakaway composition wasn't done, however, as Bax and Christen tried a tandem attack once more, this time successful, and alongside Matteo Sobrero (Lidl-Trek) bridged their way to the front of the race, to form a strong six-man move.
Inside the final 30km, the advantage of the escapees dwindled, and inside the final 15km the riders reached the Przytok climb, though there was no action; rather, the controlled chase of the breakaway continued, and the catch would be made just over 10km later ahead of the expected bunch sprint.
