Tour de France Today: all you need to know about Stage 3
After Mathieu van der Poel's stunning stage victory on stage 2, which catapulted him into the yellow jersey, stage 3 is set for a showdown between the sprinters. Catch up with anything you might have missed and get all the details of what's coming up today in Domestique's daily guide.

Tour de France stage 3 profile
Stage 3 is officially the flattest road stage of the 2025 Tour and tailor-made for a bunch sprint. With just one categorised climb late in the day, it’s a chance for the sprinters. There was hope for echelons near Dunkirk - especially from race director Christian Prudhomme - but the weather forecast suggests differtent.
The neutralised start is at 13:10 (CET) while the finish is expected at 17:18 (CET).
What to expect?
With 702 metres, stage 3 features the least amount of elevation in all the road stages of this year's Tour. There is a strong headwind prediction, which significantly reduces the chances of echelons on this stage, meaning that the most likely outcome is a sprint finish.
Main favourites are Tim Merlier, Jonathan Milan and Jasper Phillipsen with Biniam Girmay (if he is okay after his crash), Dylan Groenewegen and Jordi Meeus as most important outsiders.

Same three on the podium as on stage 2. But it didn't feel the same. Pogacar's sprint was pure class. Vingegaard proved he's not just a diesel. And Van der Poel? He went deep. Cyrus and Aidan ask: has the Tour really started now?
