The incident occurred inside the final kilometre of the stage to Skegness. The leading group, which included eventual stage winner Tim Merlier, had already passed the location, but the course remained active with more riders still approaching.

Footage shows the woman attempting to cross the road with the handcart while people nearby appear to warn her that the race has not yet passed completely. She continues across despite those warnings.

Seconds later, a race motorbike comes into view at considerable speed. There is little time for relief. A sizeable group of riders follows almost immediately, travelling at racing speed towards the finish. They are also forced to pass the woman as she makes her way across the road.

Fortunately, everyone manages to avoid contact and the race continues without a crash.
