Route
The 2026 Baloise Belgium Tour opens with a 188.4-kilometre stage starting and finishing in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem. With 1,258 metres of elevation and a few small climbs, the route may tire the riders, but a sprint finish is expected.
Stage two, from Merelbeke-Melle to Knokke-Heist, is even more suited to the sprinters, covering 197 flat kilometres with less than 700 metres of climbing and three finishing circuits on the coast. Stage three is the queen stage and likely to be decisive for the general classification. It features 23 climbs, none especially steep, but the repeated efforts should split the field before the final climb, which comes 12 kilometres from the line.
Stage four to Aarschot is slightly rolling, though unlikely to favour breakaway riders. The race concludes with a 182.6-kilometre stage from Gingelom to Hoeilaart, where several late rises may offer attacking opportunities.

Favourites
Alex Aranburu, Tibor Del Grosso and Florian Vermeersch start as the leading contenders to succeed Baroncini. Vermeersch arrives after an impressive spring classics campaign, collecting several strong finishes and podium places.
Del Grosso appears particularly well suited to the course, with his explosive punch likely to be valuable once the race reaches the Ardennes.
Aranburu has also enjoyed a strong 2026 season and already claimed his annual victory at Itzulia Basque Country in trademark attacking style. Other riders capable of challenging for the overall title include 2024 winner Søren Wærenskjold, Lukáš Kubiš and Rick Pluimers, all dangerous outsiders this week.
