Stage 21 Vuelta a España 2025

14.09

The final stage of the Vuelta a España in Madrid was cancelled after pro-Palestine protestors blocked the course with 58km to go. Demonstrations targeted Israel-Premier Tech’s participation in the race amid Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza, leading riders and organisers to halt the event. Jonas Vingegaard was confirmed as the overall winner, though no podium ceremony took place.

What we said beforehand

Stage 21 is the traditional processional run into Madrid, offering one last chance for the sprinters. In 2023, Kaden Groves won from an elite breakaway that included Remco Evenepoel and Filippo Ganna, a reminder that surprises are possible. For the race leader, the priority will be staying safe amid what is sure to be a chaotic finale.
