Roglic reportedly to decide 2027 future after World Championships

Primož Roglič’s next move remains one of the biggest unanswered questions on the transfer market.

The Slovenian will leave Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe at the end of the season, bringing his three year spell with the German team to a close. But with the 2026 campaign now entering its final weeks, there is still no confirmation of where Roglič will race in 2027.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Ciro Scognamiglio, no definitive decision has been made. Roglič is instead expected to turn his attention to his future only after the World Championships in Canada.

That comes after a Vuelta a España which may have changed the picture surrounding the 36-year-old.

Roglič arrived at the race with anything but an ideal preparation. He had been hit by a car during a training ride less than a month before the start in Monaco, leaving him with a large haematoma and forcing him to spend a crucial part of his Vuelta build up recovering rather than training.

Despite that setback, Roglič finished second overall behind Enric Mas. He remained in the general classification battle throughout the three weeks and eventually reached Granada 2 minutes and 15 seconds behind the Spaniard. It was his sixth Vuelta podium and another reminder that he can still compete at Grand Tour level even when the circumstances are far from perfect.

Afterwards, Roglič described the result as feeling like a victory when measured against the condition in which he had started the race.

Pinarello-Q36.5 has been among the teams most strongly connected with Roglič in recent months, with reports suggesting discussions took place over a possible move.

Lotto-Intermarché later emerged as another possible destination. The Belgian project was reported to have shown concrete interest in bringing Roglič in for 2027, potentially on a one year deal, with the interest said to be mutual.

Bahrain Victorious was also linked with the four time Vuelta a España winner earlier in the summer. The connection appeared logical given the team's Slovenian ties through general manager Milan Eržen.

The Bahrain interest was quickly played down, however, with the team telling Domestique that it was not interested in signing Roglič and was not pursuing a deal.”

That leaves Q36.5 and Lotto-Intermarché among the names most consistently associated with Roglič, although there is currently no indication that an agreement with either team has been reached.

For now, Roglič's attention is elsewhere.

He is currently in Canada for the World Championships in Montreal, where he will lead the Slovenian team in the men's road race following the withdrawal of Tadej Pogačar.

With Pogačar absent, Roglič takes on a role he has rarely occupied for Slovenia in recent years, heading into the race as the country's main reference point.
