Roglic's 2027 future might take an unexpected turn as Belgian team enters picture

Primož Roglič (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) is reportedly in talks with Lotto-Intermarché over a move for the 2027 season, raising the possibility of a surprise new destination for the four-time Vuelta a España winner.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, sources within both camps have confirmed that negotiations have already taken place between Roglič and the Belgian WorldTour team. A deal is not yet finalised, but the interest is reportedly mutual.

Roglič, who turns 37 in October, will leave Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe at the end of the 2026 season, after spending three seasons with the German team. 

The latest development adds Lotto-Intermarché to a growing list of potential destinations. Bahrain Victorious have already ruled out a move, while Roglič was linked with Pinarello-Q36.5 in July by Daniel Benson. 

The Q36.5 report, however, was described as being at the rumour stage rather than representing advanced negotiations.

For Lotto-Intermarché, the potential arrival of the five-time Grand Tour winner would come at an important moment. The team is expected to lose key riders for 2027, including Lennert Van Eetvelt and Arnaud De Lie. 

Currently, Milan Donie, Kamiel Eeman and Victor Vaneeckhoutte have been promoted from the Lotto-Groupe Wanty development team for next season, but no other signings have yet been announced.

Roglič could also provide an experienced leader alongside highly rated young Belgian Jarno Widar, who is set for his Grand Tour debut this August at the Vuelta.

The Slovenian, who holds the joint-record for most victories at the Vuelta with four, was pencilled to lead Red Bull at the Spanish Grand Tour this season. 

However, his participation is currently uncertain after he was hit by a car during a training ride in late July, subsequently missing the Clásica San Sebastián and Vuelta a Burgos.
