Start times and order Tour de France 2026 stage 16: Evenepoel and Pogacar to start last
The third and final week of the 2026 Tour de France gets underway with a 26.1km individual time trial where crucial differences can be made in the general classification

The 25.97 km route runs from Évian-les-Bains to Thonon-les-Bains and includes 465 metres of elevation gain. The opening section is dominated by the category 2 Côte de Larringes, a 9.7 km climb with an average gradient of 4.3%. After reaching the summit, the riders face a fast and technical descent before the flat finale through the streets of Thonon-les-Bains.
The parcours seems likely to favour the strong time trialling GC contenders for the stage victory.
The stage gets underway with Kamil Gradek of Bahrain Victorious rolling down the start ramp at 13:00 CET. At the other end of the order, Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG will be the final rider to start at 17:15 CET.
Riders set off individually at 90 second intervals, with the gaps increasing to two minutes for the final 15 starters.
Several time trial specialists start earlier in the afternoon. Joshua Tarling (Netcomapany Ineos) begins his effort at 13:25 CET, while Filippo Ganna (Netcomapany Ineos sets off at 13:58 CET.
Tobias Foss (Netcomapany Ineos starts at 16:06 CET and Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) follows at 16:40 CET. Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), the main favourite for the stage victory, starts at 17:13 CET, just two minutes before Pogacar.
The main general classification contenders are grouped together at the end of the start order. Juan Ayuso (Lidl-Trek) starts at 17:05 CET, Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) will be next at 17:07 CET, followed by Paul Seixas (Decahtlon CMA CGM) at 17:09 CET and Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) at 17:11 CET. Evenepoel and yellow jersey wearer Pogačar then complete the field at 17:13 CET and 17:15 CET respectively.
