An amateur rider who was riding on the course during the 90th edition of the Bretagne Classic was sprayed with water by passing riders in the leading group.

Both Liam Slock (Lotto-Intermarché) and Benjamin Thomas (Cofidis), part of the leading breakaway group, sprayed the amateur rider with water from their bottles as the leading group flew past, highlighting the difference in speed.

The incident comes amid ongoing concerns about safety in professional cycling, following the recent death of Finlay Tarling during the Volta a Portugal.

Thomas’ teammate Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) would go on to win the race, after a late attack timed to perfection. Aranburu finished four seconds ahead of Alexander Kamp (Uno-X Mobility), while Alessandro Borgo (Bahrain Victorious) won the sprint for third, ten seconds behind.
