Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) defended the race leader’s red jersey on stage 14 of the Vuelta a España after another significant mountain stage, which finished atop La Farrapona.

Whilst his teammate Marc Soler took the stage win, João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) remains 2nd in the general classification.

Vingegaard leads Almeida by 48 seconds; meanwhile, Tom Pidcock (Q36.5) defended his 3rd place, 2:38 behind the Dane.

Jai Hindley (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) closed the gap to Pidcock with an attack in the finale and now sits 3:10 behind the race leader, Vingegaard.
