Double delight for Tudor as Kung takes stage and Brenner secures Poland GC

Stefan Küng (Tudor Pro Cycling) won Stage 7 of the Tour de Pologne, taking top honors in the individual time trial around Wieliczka. 

Completing the 12.5 km course in 14:25.60 at an average speed of 51.90 km/h, Küng finished four seconds ahead of Finn Fisher-Black (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) and Callum Thornley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) close behind in third.

Küng's benchmark proved unbreakable, holding firm as the final general classification contenders fought for the overall jersey.

The joy didn't stop there for Tudor as Marco Brenner put in a solid effort against the clock to take the GC ahead of Finn Fisher-Black and Iván Romeo.

Starting and finishing in Wieliczka, the 12.5 km route opened with a 2 km false-flat climb before turning onto flat, fast roads. 

The non-technical layout avoided sharp city turns, heavily favoring pure time-trial engines capable of maintaining high sustained power output over the distance.

With 19 riders separated by less than a minute entering the final day, the closing stage served a dual purpose: crowning the stage winner and deciding the overall race standings. 

For specialists like Küng, the flat profile offered optimal terrain for stage success, while GC leaders faced the challenge of pacing their efforts against specialist benchmarks.

Sam Welsford set an early reference time of 14:51, which held until Küng’s teammate Arthur Kluckers finished in 14:35. 

Callum Thornley then produced a strong effort for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, stopping the clock at 14:29 at an average speed of 51.65 km/h to take the provisional lead.

Küng reached the 5.9 km intermediate split in 7:52, establishing a two-second advantage over Thornley. Maintaining his rhythm through the return leg, the Swiss specialist crossed the finish line 4.26 seconds faster than Thornley to take top spot on the leaderboard.

Magnus Sheffield put in a solid effort through the middle sector but ultimately slotted into a provisional third at 8.77 seconds back off the Swiss rider's time, while Ethan Hayter (Soudal Quick-Step) couldn't come close.

Finn Fisher-Black came the closest to toppling the Swiss rider, but ultimately he couldn't quite overcome the deficit, finishing four seconds off.

None of the final GC contenders managed to threaten Küng's time as they completed their rides, confirming his stage victory and finalising the overall podium.

Brenner took the GC by 10 seconds over Finn Fisher-Black and Ivan Romeo (Movistar) in third.
