Van Aert awarded Tour of Denmark stage 2 after photo finish review
Jensen Plowright thought he had denied race leader Wout van Aert a second straight victory on the Tour of Denmark when he delivered an expertly timed bike throw at the finish of stage 2 in Skive. The Australian was initially awarded the win but a review of the photo finish saw Van Aert given the nod.

Wout van Aert (Visma | Lease a Bike) won a dramatic stage 2 of the PostNord Tour of Denmark, pipping to Jensen Plowright (Alpecin-Deceuninck) to victory in a bunch sprint in Skive.
Van Aert opened the sprint from distance but Plowright closed rapidly in the closing metres, and he thought he had baten the race leader to the line with a perfectly timed bike throw.
The photo finish image suggested that Van Aert might have held off the Australian, and after a 10-minute delay, the commissaires awarded the victory to the Belgian.
Toon Aerts (Lotto Intermarché) took third place ahead of Giovanni Lonardi (Polti-VisitMalta). Unibet Rose Rockets were prominent in teeing up the sprint in the finale, but their fast man Lukas Kubis had to settle for 10th in a fiercely contested sprint.
Van Aert was perched on Kubis’ wheel in the final kilometre, and the Belgian launched a crisp acceleration to hit the front. Plowright came off teammate Jonas Geens’ wheel to hunt down Van Aert, but the line came soon enough for the Belgian to hang on by the tighest margin to take his second win in as many days.
Van Aert retains the blue jersey of race leader, 10 seconds clear of Kubis and 14 seconds ahead of Henrik Pedersen (Uno-X Mobility).
