After Glasgow, Zürich and Kigali, Remco Evenepoel claimed his fourth straight victory in the World Championships time trial with a crushing display in Montreal. He will now aim to become the first rider to win the elite men's time trial and road race at the same Worlds. Filippo Ganna (Italy) took silver ahead of a surprising Paul Seixas (France).

Route
The men’s individual time trial covers 39.2 kilometres through Montréal, with 220 metres of elevation. Long, fast roads dominate the opening section towards Old Montréal and the St Lawrence, where exposed sections could make the wind a factor. The course then reaches the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve before returning towards the city centre. Corners and changes of direction interrupt the rhythm, while the final approach to Parc Jeanne Mance rises gradually before a steeper closing section at around six per cent.

Favourites
Three time defending champion Remco Evenepoel is the clear favourite in Montréal as he targets a historic fourth consecutive world title. Filippo Ganna looks like his biggest challenger, with the flat and fast course perfectly suited to the Italian specialist. Stefan Küng also arrives in excellent form after recent time trial victories. Callum Thornley and Ethan Hayter strengthen the British challenge, while Brandon McNulty, Paul Seixas, Mathias Vacek and Isaac Del Toro are among the other riders capable of challenging near the front.
