Anna van der Breggen dominated the 12.7km mountain time trial to Nevegal, beating Marlen Reusser by 1:04 and Demi Vollering by 1:10. Reusser had set the early benchmark, while Vollering looked on course to challenge before losing time on the steepest part of the climb. Elisa Balsamo finished 123rd, more than nine minutes down, as the maglia rosa passed to Van der Breggen.
