Merlier claimed his second consecutive Tour de France stage victory with a powerful late sprint in Bergerac, passing his rivals in the final metres to beat Biniam Girmay and Olav Kooij. Earlier, Liam Slock had launched a brave solo attack and resisted the chasing peloton until just over one kilometre from the finish. Tadej Pogačar crossed the line safely in the bunch and retained the yellow jersey with a lead of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard.
