Olav Kooij claimed the first Tour de France stage win of his career after a chaotic finale in Pau. A crash with 5 kilometers to go split the peloton and left several major riders, including yellow jersey Torstein Træen, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, chasing back. Kooij stayed calm, held a strong position in the final kilometers and powered past his rivals to beat Max Kanter and Tim Merlier at the line.
