Everyone expected a sprint showdown in Milan, but the breakaway had other ideas. Despite the peloton closing in during the frantic finale, the bunch failed to bring back the four escapees. Fredrik Dversnes of Uno-X Mobility proved the strongest in the sprint, taking a magnificent victory in the fastest road stage in Giro history at 51.4 km/h.
