Narváez won stage 8 of the Giro d’Italia after attacking from a strong breakaway trio with Mikkel Bjerg and Andreas Leknessund, then holding off the Norwegian on the steep final climb to Fermo to take his second stage victory of the race. Behind, the GC contenders endured a tense but ultimately neutralised day, with Jonas Vingegaard briefly caught out in a split before everything came back together. Afonso Eulálio therefore retained the overall lead heading into Sunday’s second mountaintop finish.
